ASHLEY MARSHALL

LIBRARIAN
INSTRUCTOR
LIFELONG LEARNER

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Ashley Marshall. I was born and raised in Union City, TN. I graduated from Union City High School in 2006 and in Spring 2008 I decided I was ready for college. I graduated with an Associates in English in 2011 from Dyersburg State Community College, a BA in English (Literary) and a BA in Communications (News Editorial) in 2015 from the University of Tennessee at Martin along with a Masters in Family and Consumer Science (General Studies) in 2017.

I have always loved going to my local library and searching for at least three or four books to take home. It wasn't until I became a Graduate Assistant for the Paul Meek Academic Library in Martin, TN, that I realize that what I wanted to do was in front of me the whole time. A phrase that better sums up who I am...."I just want to help!"

MY LIBRARIAN PHILOSOPHIES

DAWN WACEK

I believe that libraries were created to help the community. When there are too many rules and expenses for the patrons we see a decrease in patrons using and requesting our services. For instance, Dawn Wacek explains why library fines and other expenses are costing us our patrons.

MARK RAY

There is always that stereotype that librarians only know how to "shush" you. In some cases, sure, but in most cases, librarians just want to help. Mark Ray discusses how all librarians can become more helpful than silencing and rule creators.
